About Dr. Thanh Mai, DMD

As he began his journey to becoming a premier dentist at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, Dr. Mai committed himself to the highest level of excellence possible. For 19 years, Dr. Mai’s base of experience has grown with the industry’s state-of-the-art treatment strategies and allows him to offer you customized and comfortable care in prevention, restoration and cosmetic dentistry, including, as needed, the use of various forms of conscious sedation. As a result, Dr. Mai’s personal care has earned him some of the very best dental reviews in the area.

In his personal time, Dr. Mai loves spending time with his son, exploring the wonders of the USA and the world at large, and dedicating time to his own personal fitness.

About Dr. Fadi Fares, DMD

Dr. Fares brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the field of dentistry. His journey began at Antonin University, where he earned a degree in Dental Laboratory Technology in 1988. He then moved to Tampa to further his education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of South Florida in 1991. In 1995, Dr. Fares graduated with his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Boston University, where he was honored with the Organization of Teachers of Oral Diagnosis Award.

During his dental studies, Dr. Fares completed an externship at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT, providing dental care to cadets and veterans. This formative experience deepened his commitment to delivering high-quality care to his patients. Today, Dr. Fares is certified in moderate parenteral sedation by the Florida Board of Dentistry, allowing him to offer sedation dentistry and ensure patient comfort during a wide range of dental procedures.

Dr. Fares is widely recognized for his meticulous attention to detail in cosmetic dentistry, having transformed thousands of smiles. He collaborates closely with the medical community to provide exceptional patient care and maintains a strong dedication to continuous learning. By regularly attending continuing education seminars, he stays at the forefront of advancements in dental technology and materials.

Dr. Fares also has a special interest in treating Obstructive Sleep Apnea with oral appliances, helping his patients achieve better sleep and improved overall health. A strong advocate for giving back to the community, Dr. Fares volunteers at various dental events each year, providing free dental care to those in need.

He is an active member of several esteemed professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the West Coast Dental Association, and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Fares enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, traveling, and participating in family activities.

Carey

Regional Manager

Since joining our practice in 2014, Carey has been an important part of our team—driven by her passion for dentistry and helping patients feel comfortable and confident in their care.

Starting out as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant, she’s grown into her role as Regional Manager, working behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly and support our amazing office teams.

When she’s not working, Carey enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her husband, Jordan, and their pets. You’ll often find them out hiking, on the water, or relaxing with a good movie night at home.

Christine

Assistant Manager

Originally from New Jersey, Christine moved to the Tampa Bay area in 1975. Her career began in banking, but she shifted her focus to dentistry and has been with Mai Dentistry since 2013’s opening of the Hudson office. She finds working with her patients, Dr. Mai and the team at Mai Dentistry to be deeply enjoyable. Her personal interests include spending time with family and friends, learning as much as she can about health and dental care, and pursuing adventures traveling and kayaking.

Sheila

Dental Assistant

Sheila has been a dedicated dental professional since 1983, bringing over four decades of experience and a true passion for patient care to our team. She is driven by a commitment to provide compassionate, high-quality care and takes pride in helping patients feel at ease throughout their dental visits.

Her warmth, professionalism, and depth of knowledge make her an essential part of our clinical team. Sheila’s ability to connect with patients and support their oral health journey reflects her lifelong dedication to the field of dentistry.

When she’s not in the office, Sheila enjoys spending time on the boat with her husband of 36 years, their two grown children, and her cherished grandson. Family time on the water is one of her favorite ways to relax and recharge.

Wendy

Meet Wendy, a valued bilingual member of our dental assistant team at Mai Dentistry. With a journey in dentistry since 2018, Wendy’s passion lies in bringing smiles to people’s faces. Beyond the clinical side, she finds joy in beach days and spending quality time with friends and family.

As a dental assistant, Wendy not only contributes to the excellence of our practice but also radiates positivity, creating a welcoming atmosphere for our patients. Wendy’s commitment to both professional excellence and personal well-being is a testament to the vibrant spirit at Mai Dentistry.

I’m Ronda, an administrative assistant at a Mai Dentistry, where I’ve been serving for over a year. I find joy in helping others and brightening their day with a smile. When I’m not at work, you can find me planning my next beach getaway, as the ocean is my happy place. I believe in spreading positivity wherever I go and am always ready with a smile to share. Hoping to make the world a brighter place, one smile at a time!

Daili

Dental Hygienist

Daili has been a dedicated dental hygienist since graduating from Bergen Community College in New Jersey in 2007. With over 15 years of experience in the field, she is passionate about helping patients achieve and maintain healthy smiles through personalized care and education.

After relocating to Tampa in 2011, Daili quickly became known for her gentle touch, thorough cleanings, and commitment to promoting oral health awareness. She believes that patient education is the key to long-term dental wellness and loves taking the time to ensure every patient feels informed and empowered.

Outside the office, Daili enjoys spending time outdoors, gardening, and cherishing moments with her family. Her warm personality and genuine care make her a valued member of our dental team.

Bacil

Dental Hygienist

Having earned an extensive university education in health sciences internationally, and through military training abroad and in the U.S., Bacil found his calling from a young age and followed his dream of healing patients through dental care. Even while pursuing continuing education, he began his dental health career first as a dental assistant and then as a registered dental hygienist, always focusing on providing the best care possible. He deeply enjoys seeing his patients’ smiles and loves to spend time helping them learn better habits toward dental health.

Bacil has an M.S. in Health Sciences, is a licensed nurse practitioner and registered dental hygienist, and has also served proudly as an officer in the U.S. Navy. With over twenty years’ experience in the industry, he takes pride in his ability to continually grow his dental health skills while practicing, but still finds time each year to visit his family in Jordan – and even volunteer in various local clinics on each trip.

Sue

Billing Specialist

Sue is a valued part of the Mai Dentistry team, handling billing for our St. Pete office. Working remotely from the Land O’ Lakes location, she helps ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes so our patients can enjoy a stress-free experience.

With her attention to detail and dedication to great service, Sue keeps our billing process accurate, efficient, and easy for patients to navigate.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, relaxing at home, and making the most of her downtime.
